Shaffer Evaluation Group supported The Diplomacy Center Foundation in advancing civic learning through innovative, digital teaching tools designed for high school classrooms. Funded by the Una Chapman Cox Foundation and the Hearst Foundations, the project developed two key resources for the National Museum of American Diplomacy:
Bringing U.S. Diplomacy and Diplomats into the Classroom, a video series that humanizes diplomacy through firsthand stories, and
Diplomacy Decision Points, a web-based interactive that challenges students to think critically about global issues and decision-making.
SEG led a national needs assessment to ensure the tools met educators’ priorities and classroom realities. We also designed and conducted an in-depth evaluation of the affiliated Summer Teacher Workshop, measuring how educators engage with the content and apply it to their teaching practice.
By combining digital media, experiential learning, and real-world diplomatic scenarios, the initiative aims to inspire the next generation of informed, globally aware citizens.
