Shaffer Evaluation Group partnered with faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University to design an evaluation strategy for Learning from Digital Game Design for Teachers, an initiative exploring how digital game design can support teacher professional development and innovation in digital arts instruction.
SEG supported the project team by developing a logic model and comprehensive evaluation framework to inform future work. Key activities included a review of evaluation models from comparable initiatives, stakeholder interviews to refine the program theory, and direct observation of teacher professional development sessions to inform evaluation priorities.
The resulting deliverables included a finalized logic model, an evaluation matrix aligned with project goals, and a narrative outlining both quasi-experimental and non-experimental design options to measure impact on teaching practice and student engagement.
